Looking to earn some extra cash during summer break, two college seniors put their heads together and came up with what would become a multimillion-dollar junk hauling company.

But they knew in order to succeed, they needed to stand out from the rest, so they came up with a catchy name and unique branding.

“We were just trying to come up with something catchy, and the name seemed to resonate with people and catch their attention as well as make them smile,” said Nick Friedman, co-founder and president of College Hunks Hauling Junk, who started the Tampa, Fla.-based company in June 2005 with longtime friend Omar Soliman. “Our clean-cut collegiate image, our progressive thinking in terms of recycling and community involvement, and our focus on providing our clients with a fun and memorable experience that is not typical of a trash hauling service.”

What started with one cargo van became a franchised business in 2007 and now has more than 40 trucks, 22 franchises and 26 locations across the country, making Soliman and Friedman the youngest franchisors in America.
